J Rivera Pansa incorporates structure forms as an expansive prompt for sculpture, text and performance works. They are invested in the lines between preservations to impermanence, gathering space for fragmentary photographic images, enclosed vessels, and affective texts. Their lecture based performance and movement work look into speech act as locutions between knowledge diffusion, corporeal language, and poetic scripts. Rivera Pansa is a transdisciplinary artist and cultural worker from occupied Huichun Ohlone Land (Oakland, CA). Born in Olongapo, Philippines, they received their BA in Art Practice from UC Berkeley and a current MFA candidate in Sculpture at University of Texas at Austin. As an arts organizer, they served as a co-director at CTRL-SHFT Collective (Oakland), curating gallery exhibitions and performances of QTBIPoC artists, and served as co-director of Real Time and Space (Oakland).
